Kul Tiras Marines is a cross-faction Alliance-based RP-PvP guild on the Emerald Dream-US server. We roleplay the military ground force of the nation of Kul Tiras, focused on deep recoinnassance, unconventional warfare, sabotage, intelligence gathering and targetted assassination.
We are originally from the Bleeding Hollow PvP realm, and were part of the large group of players petitioning Blizzard to launch an RP-PvP realm. We moved to the Maelstrom RP-PvP server the same day it launched, and called it home from Vanilla through the second part of the Legion expansion.
Although the guild is Alliance-based, it is split into two companies: Alpha Company (Alliance), and Bravo Company (Horde).
Alpha Companyconsists primarilly of Humans, Dwarves and Gnomes. Alpha Company also features detachments from foreign military organizations to join in our reconnaissance efforts. Members from the Hand of Argus and Rangari (Draenei), the Gilneas Brigade (Worgen), and the Sentinels (Night Elves) lend their exertiese to our own. There are no formal military alliances with the Pandaren - however some Pandaren have been known to enlist for special duties.
Bravo Companyconsists of High Elves(Thalassians) infiltrating the Horde as Blood Elves, and Undead yet still loyal Marines who have rejected the "gift"(i.e. curse) forced upon them by the Ligh King and Sylvannas Windrunner. These are the Undying Marines, continuing to fight the enemies of Kul Tiras and humanity even after death. The tenet "No Marine is Left Behind" is demonstrated most strongly here, as we do not reject those who have been afflicted with the curse of undeath so long as they continue their service with honor. Bravo Company's primary mission is sabotage and espionage against the Horde leadership and working to undermine their military and political efforts.
The ability to engage enemies on both sides of the Alliance/Horde divide gives our members a way of fulfilling our role as a semi-autonomous military force from the overall Alliance structure - as our primary loyalties are primarilly with Kul Tiras, not Stormwind. We find that some member nations of the Alliance are often subservient to Stormwind and their questionable political machinations. This means we will attack members and guilds within the Alliance whom we consider to be detrimental to the ultimate goals of our mission.
Goals & Mission Objective
Kul Tiras Marines is utterly committed to the dismantling of the Horde as a world power, extermination of the Orcs as an invasive parasitic species, restoration of the lands of the northern Eastern Kingdoms to it's rightful peoples, and a return to the world order which existed prior to the Orcish invasion of the First War.
Kul Tiras Marines OOC goal is to RP a special forces unit of the nation of Kul Tiras, and give it a character with a particularly violent, antagonistic culture against the Horde which serves as a contrast to the more pacifist and conciliatory tone of Stormwind.
We also want to create an RP avenue t for members of the Horde who want to roleplay High Elves and Undead who are unhappy with the direction their leaders have taken them and want to take matters into their own hands, while also giving them a home within the Alliance sphere of influence.
The guild's focus is on RP first, with a strong emphasis on PvP - particularly World PvP. Although we do run high level mythic+ dungeon and will join with larger raid groups, these are not typically on a planned/regular schedule and are almost always sponteneous. Those expecting a robust raiding experience and aren't too interested in RP-PvP would be best served looking elsewhere.

Ranks & Structure
5th Marine Recoinnassance Batallion
Kul Tiras Marines identifies in-character as the 5th Marine Recoinnassance Batallion (5th MRB), and this then divides into two companies: Alpha Company on the Alliance side and Bravo Company on the Horde side. Members are required to maintain a character on both sides in order to be able to muster a sizeable force on either side, and also to promote interaction and comradery between members in both companies.
The rank structure on both sides is identical.
Ranks will be assigned to members of the Foreign Detachment Units up to and including the Non-Commissioned Officer level, however only Marines may reach the level of full Officer.
Foreign Detachment Units
Worgen, Draenei and Night Elf members are not Kul Tiras Marines in the traditional sense in that they would not don the green tabbard with gold anchor. Instead, they are special detachments from allied military powers who do not function within the traditional confines of their respective organizations. These members are working closely alongside us with the same mission and the same goals, and would wear the colors of their units during formal events.
Worgen - Gilneas Brigade While King Genn Greymane of Gilneas has sworn his forces to aid Stormwind and the Alliance, many Gilneans have been unhappy with some of the decisions (and indecisions) of the Alliance leadership. This sentiment reached it's peak at the end of the Siege of Orgrimmar, when the Horde was broken from within and the Alliance had effectively taken the Horde's capital. King Varian Wrynn, instead of ending the threat of the Horde that day - spared their leaders, and failed to demand the relinquishing of all the lands stolen by the Forsaken: Gilneas, Hillsbrad and the Arathi Highlands. Few have forgiven, none have forgotten. Worgen are ferocious fighters, feared by the Forsaken because of their fearlessness and near immunity to the curse of undeath, which renders some of their alchemical weapons useless.
Draenei - The Hand of Argus/Rangari The Hand of Argus is not exactly known for their subtelty or stealth, so one might assume they would have little to offer in a recoinnassance mission. It is wise to remember that as the military arm of the Draenei, the Hand of Argus has evaded the Burning Legion for thousands of years. This wealth of experience, along with their keen intellect and technological prowess make them invaluable elements to any specialized unit. It doesn't hurt when it's time for an all-out fight to have these hulking powerhouses on your side, either. Likewise, the famed Rangari of Draenor are masters of tracking, stealth and wilderness survival, having cut their teeth in the savage lands of Gorgrond. They bring their skills to Azeroth, ready to do their part.
Night Elves - The Sentinels Some tensions still remain from the purge against the Night Elves who led raids against Kul Tiras forces in Kalimdor shortly after the Third War. Both sides have seen the contributions of eachother's forces on the battlefield, particularly against the Burning Legion, and have decided to put aside their differences and work together against the larger threats that loom. The Sentinels are among the most capable scouts the world have ever known - a fact not lost on the Marines. No other Alliance force is as dedicated to the erradication of the Orcs and their expulsion from Kalimdor than the Marines - a fact not lost to the Night Elves. No one has knowledge of the terrain in Kalimdor like the Night Elves, making them necessary to fight the Horde within their own borders.
Pandaren are accepted on a case-by-case basis if there is a good RP rationale for recruiting a Pandaren. Marines do enjoy a good Pandaren ale, and Pandaren cooking standards are typically below even those of a naval galley, however times are tough and we may consider such a request on a case by case basis.
Kul Tiras Marines, being a military themed RP guild, has an in-character culture of strict martial discipline as would be expected of any formal military organization. Being from Kul Tiras, they also have an affinity for all things nautical as the entire nation is built around it's maritime capabilities. On an organizational level, the Kul Tiras Marines have a Code of Honor, which is at the center of our in-game interaction.
Marine Code of Honor
The Marine Code of Honor is a set of six tenets which are the core of a Marine's oath of service. This consits of the following:
1. Protect the Homeland
2. Serve with Honor
3. No Marine is Left Behind
4. Always Be Prepared
5. Love the Sea
6. Always Follow Orders
These concepts require little explanation, however they are covered more in depth during one of the "educational" bootcamp exercises. In-character, every Marine is expected to know the The Code, and to live by it - and so we ask our members to be respectful of the guild and also the guildmates who want to take the role seriously, and incorporate the tenets into the way they play their character.
Relationship with other races
Kul Tiras Marines has also traditionally been known to have something of a xenophobic streak as it relates to the peoples who have wronged Kul Tiras and the Alliance - often showing little to no mercy to the enemy and fighting with a ferocity and determination that few would volunteer to face. Kul Tiras Marines are an aggressive and stalwart lot, strong and unwavering in their convictions - some would say zealous and fanatical, but that is what puts puts fear into the heart of the enemy. These terms would injure the hearts of lesser men and women, but the Marines of Kul Tiras will proudly wear that accusation as a badge of Honor.
