The first step in joining Kul Tiras Marines is to read the About and the Lore sections on this website so you get a good understanding of what we're about and how we approach our role within the game. It's a fairly lengthy read, so get a glass of water (or booze or whatever) and take your time with it.
Next, register on the forums and introduce yourself on the Recruit Depot forum if you decide you like the lore and it's something you'd be interested in. Tell us something about yourself and about your character, then go ahead and submit the application below.
Finally, log into our Discord channel when you get a chance. https://discord.gg/7MuQz2m and pop in and say Hi. If you're not the talkative kind it's OK, there's chat channel in there too.
You may also invite me on Battle.net - Gonzalez#1887 or friend my character Nearo
Once you have actually been invited as a recruit, you will be required to attend and complete a series of Bootcamp training exercises as part of your training to be a full, bona-fide Kul Tiras Marine. The bootcamps will be a combination of classroom "education", PvP and RP activities.
Recruits are required to undergo a series of bootcamp training exercises teaching the Funamentals of being a Kul Tiras Marine, War Science and Military Strategy/Tactics in preparation for a final qualification mission where the recruit is sent on a recoinnassance mission deep in enemy territory. Bootcamp works on a credit system, so you must complete the training below to be eligible for your final qualification trial. The missions are as follows:
Section I: Fundamentals
Fundamentals I: Military Discipline and the Marine Code of Honor Location: Dalaran Topics of Discussion: Recruits will be taught the Marine Code of Honor and what is expected of them - both on the individual and organizational level. Discipline and respect for the chain of command will be emphasized, and the importance of our mission will be ardently explained.
Fundamentals II: Kul Tiras & World History Location: Various Topics of Discussion: Recruits will be taught the history of Kul Tiras and the world through the perspective of our glorious green-colored lenses. Primary topics being covered are those seen in the Lore section, but with some added level of detail and "flavor". Marines are expected to know and understand our traditions and why we take our mission so seriously.
Fundamentals III: Naval Operations Location: Stormwind Harbor Topics of Discussion: Although our mission is primarilly focused on ground operations, a basic understanding of maritime technology and terminology is crucial for any Kul Tiras Marine. Recruits will be taught the basics of shipboard operations, including damage control and use of shipboard weapons.
Section II: War Sciences
War Sciences I: Zoology of Orcs, Trolls and Tauren Location: Dalaran, Horde Territory Topics of Discussion: The importance of knowing your enemy's strengths and weaknesses is important for any military operation. Here, recruits will be taught the distinct zoological differences between the various animalistic Horde species, and how although they may have some advantages in terms of raw physical brute strength, their woefully inferior intellect and reliance on base instinct can be exploited. Funamentals of physiology will also be discussed, as these are critical for the application of enhanced interrogation techniques.
War Sciences II: Intelligence Gathering & Enhanced Interrogation Techniques Location: Stormwind, Silvermoon or Lordaeron (The Undercity) Topics of Discussion: Recruits will be taught methods for extracting valuable intelligence from Horde prisoners, and the mindset required to instill fear of non-compliance into prisoners. Specific visual and audio signals will be taught to recruits of when a prisoner is lying and when they are being truthful, and the proper response to instances when a prisoner is being untruthful. The collection and disposal of evidence will also be discussed.
War Sciences III: Deep Recoinnassance & Infiltration Location: Durotar, Tirisfal Glades Topics of Discussion: Undetected observation of enemy movements is key to a succcesful military campaign - and will be the focus of this course. Recruits will observe, collect and report on the location, status and possible deployment of enemy units, and provide an assessment and recommendation as to a rapid strike to eliminate a threat before it grows into something beyond the capabilities of available Marine forces. Recruits undergoing deep infiltration and espionage missions will also be instructed on the customs and motivations of their targets to best emulate and deceive the enemy.
War Sciences IV: Wilderness Survival & Evasion Location: Durotar, Tirisfal Glades Topics of Discussion: Even the best intelligence gathering depends on the information collected making it's way back to base for analysis. The ability to evade capture and survive in harsh environments is a fundamental skill of all Kul Tiras Marines. The exploitation of local natural resources and preparation for a tactical withdrawal will be a focal point of this exercise, as well as looking for targets of opportunity on the way out that can be destroyed without the loss of our ability to escape.
Section III: Military Strategy & Tactics
Military Strategy & Tactics I: Amphibious Assault Methodology Location: Battlegrounds, Broken Isles Topics of Discussion: Techniques of mounting attacks against ground targets from aerial and sea-going vehicles, as well as maintaining unit cohesion and coordination in the midst of battle will be discussed and practiced in various contested areas. Recruits will execute military action against Horde Forces in the Broken Shore, Azsuna, Strand of the Ancients and the Isle of Conquest.
Military Strategy & Tactics II: Urban Assault Location: Silvermoon or Lordaeron (The Undercity) Topics of Discussion: Techniques for operating within the dangers of an enemy stronghold where our force is vastly outnumbered will be discussed. Recruits will execute military action against a fortified urban position in quick, precice strikes and rapid extraction to minimize casualties while inflicting the maximum amount of destruction against an enemey target.
Military Strategy & Tactics III: Conventional Warfare Location: Battlegrounds Topics of Discussion: Techniques for mounting attacks against conventional military targets in an open theatre where the enemy both expects and is prepared for an assault. Recruits will execute military action against Horde forces in various theatres of operation, including the Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley, Gilneas and Warsong Gulch.
Military Strategy & Tactics IV: Unconventional Warfare Location: Broken Isles Topics of Discussion: Techniques for rapid strike and extraction along various Horde strongpoints on the Broken Isles to maximize damage to enemy forces and sustain minimal casualties. Fast attack and movement will be emphasized, with no territory being held - simply enemy units being destroyed.
Section IV: Trials
Initial Qualification Trial: Single Combat Location: Ironforge Topic of Discussion: Recruits will be instructed and tested on their abilities in single combat, including offensive and defensive techniques which will be employed in the field. Succesful completion of Single Combat trials may be done at any point during bootcamp and is required to be eligible for the final qualification trial.
Intermediate Qualification Trial: Small Group Combat Location: Broken Isles, Arenas Topic of Discussion: Recruits will be instructed and tested on their abilities in small group combat, including offensive and defensive techniques which will be employed in the field. Succesful completion of Small Group Combat trials may be done at any point during bootcamp and is required to be eligible for the final qualification trial.
Final Qualification Trial: Surveil, Evade, Assault, Rendezvous (SEAR) Location: Orgimmar, Silvermoon or Lordaeron (The Undercity) Topic of Discussion: Recruits will be charged with infiltrating deep into enemy territory to carry out a specialized recoinnassance mission which will apply the techniques and methods drilled during the bootcamp training regime. Details will vary depending on the mission, individuals and force size involved. Successful completion of the SEAR mission will result in final qualification and acceptance as a Kul Tiras Marine.
Marine recruits who successfully complete their training and qualification trials will be honored with a formal ceremony conferring their promotion from Recruit to Kul Tiras Marine, with all the duties and privileges implied therein.
