Third Fleet of Kul Tiras

II. Destruction of the Third Fleet by the Dragonmaw Orcs

The Third Fleet of Kul Tiras, also known as the "Lost Fleet" or the "Doomed Fleet", were an armada of Kul Tiras ships under the command of Captain Derek Proudmoore, son of Lord Admiral Daelin Proudmoore.

An enormous naval battle took place, pitting the Alliance and Horde Navies against one-another in the waters between Khaz Modan and Crestfall at the height of the Second War. As the Alliance Navy was decimating the Horde armada, the Third Fleet was attacked by a flight of red dragons under the control of the Dragonmaw Clan orcs. Most of the dragons were later killed by gryphon riders of the Wildhammer Clan, but not before the destruction of the Kul Tiran vessels.

The wreckage of three ships: Wave Mistress, the Intrepid and the Flying Osprey can still be seen on the surface to this day. One of the ships grounded along the coast north of Menethil Harbor was carrying the Eye of Paleth, a cursed artifact, which cused the crews of the sunken vessels with undeath.

The other ships: the Fathomdasher, the Songswallow, the Gale's Reprieve, the Drustvaria and the Pride of Tiragarde
sunk beneath the tides, and were later desecrated by Horde agents with the help of two enemy collaborators who helped them locate the wreckages: Tidesage Thomas Zelling and Captain Amalia Stone.

III. Wave Mistress

The only known surviving member of the crew (and the entire fleet) was the ship's First Mate, Fitzsimmons. First Mate Fitzsimmons, being overcome with grief after the Fleet's destruction and the death of his shipmates, spent his last days in a drunken stuppor in Menethil Harbor. He died some years prior to the Shattering, having drank himself to death.

IV. Intrepid

Under the command of Captain Halyndor, the Intrepid was one of the many ships accompanying the Third Fleet. Aboad theIntrepid was the Eye of Paleth, a cursed artifact that caused the crewmembers of the nearby ships to roam as insane undead. The only crewmember to retain any semblance of sanity was the ship's First Mate, Snellig.

V. Elven Destroyer Flying Osprey

A Thalassian ship, the Flying Osprey was carrying a large shipment of Lightforge Iron destined for Alliance smiths. The ship had joined the fleet to protect it's precious cargo, but also fell victim to dragon fire. Unlike the other ships, it was sunk near Menethil Harbor. Murlocs currently occupy the ship's wreckage.

VI. Pride of Tiragarde

The Pride of Tiragarde was the flagship of the Third Fleet. It was destroyed by the Dragonmaw Orcs - who were first spotted by the Gerard, the lookout manning the crow's next. By the time Captain Derek Proudmoore had scaled the rigging to find out why Gerald had been frozen in fear, it was too late. The dragons swooped down and set the ship ablaze, killing the entire crew.

The ship can now be found on the ocean floor of the Great Sea.

BI:6 spies have found that with the aid of two traitors, the Horde have found and recovered the remains of Marshal M. Valentine and Derek Proudmoore. The ship was guarded by an undead red dragon - Daenistrasz, who may have also been cursed by the Eye of Paleth which cursed the sailors and marines on other vessels. It is unclear why the Eye did not affect Derek Proudmoore and Marshal M. Valentine. Their bodies do not appear to have decomposed for reasons unknown.

VII. Fathomdasher

Like the Pride of Tiragarde, the Fathomdasher was sunk by the red dragons of the Dragonmaw Orcs during the Second War. It's wreckage is found at the bottom of the Great Sea near the Pride of Tiragarde.

VIII. Songswallow

Like the Pride of Tiragarde, the Songswallow was sunk by the red dragons of the Dragonmaw Orcs during the Second War. It's wreckage is found at the bottom of the Great Sea near the Pride of Tiragarde.

IX. Gale's Reprieve

Like the Pride of Tiragarde, the Gale's Reprieve was sunk by the red dragons of the Dragonmaw Orcs during the Second War. It's wreckage is found at the bottom of the Great Sea near the Pride of Tiragarde.
