Bufoard Theodore was born to the Pussy family of Crestfall. Modest farmers, the family did not struggle for anything and were finely fed, but stories of the high seas from the seamen that mulled around the port convinced him he needed to see more of the world. At the age of 21, opportunity was provided by the break out of the First War. Kul Tiras, hearing reports from Stormwind and then watching in horror as the kingdom fell, shifted into a war stance and opportunities in the Marines swelled.

With the Second War raging, Bufoard did not see action until after the tide of the war had shifted in the favor of the Alliance. The unit he was assigned to only saw major action in support of a landing as the Alliance swept south chasing the Horde back to the Dark Portal. While the war would be declared over, it would be in this supposed time of peace that Bufoard would see the worst of war. The Bleeding Hollow Clan had managed to disappear into the swamps of the Black Morass near the Dark Portal. Alleria Windrunner, along with elven rangers and units assigned from various nations of the Alliance, would spend the next year attempting to hunt the clan down. Bufoard's unit would suffer heavy casualties in the swamps, even finding himself wounded from an ambush.

Bufoard would be recognized for his service and be promoted. By the time he was 41, the Third War broke out and he was Master Sergeant in a unit aiding relocation efforts for survivors of the Scourge's rampage. The ship he was assigned to, the KTS Blackhawk, was ordered to join up with the new Fifth Fleet being formed to protect trade between Kul Tiras, Stormwind, and the various villages of the South Seas. This turned out to be the luckiest moment of Bufoard's life as his unit was not part of the fateful force that sailed for the shores of Theramore.

He would sail with the fleet until he was assigned to their shore headquarters in Menethil Harbor. Fifth Fleet was hardly ever resupplied by Kul Tiras and had to instead work locally to supply itself. This required recruiting locals to serve as marines. Bufoard would find his natural calling serving as an instructor to new cadets joining up with the fleet. This assignment would also turn out to be very fortunate as he would avoid the fate of the KTS Blackhawk crew who were killed when the ship was sunk during the invasion of Northrend.

After Fifth Fleet was disbanded and it's former forces called home to Kul Tiras, Bufoard was assigned to be an instructor at the Proudmoore Academy.
